Hello Boston P-8 Families,

It came to my attention today that there was a policy in place prior to me becoming the principal at Boston P-8 regarding cold weather. Previously, students were brought to the front door of the school on cold weather days and let into the building. Unfortunately, we cannot allow this to continue because we have a breakfast cart set up for the students who enter the building from the big playground and letting additional children into the front door on cold days creates congestion, kids bumping into each other, and students dropping breakfast. Also, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot have students gathered together in one area and this is why we have students enter the building from designated places. Those arrival places don't change when the weather changes. Please continue to bring your child to the same arrival location and we are letting them into the building from that location at 7:50 when the temperature is below 20 degrees or if it is raining or snowing. I apologize for the confusion. Thank you for your understanding.

Hola familias de Boston P-8,

Me llamó la atención hoy que existía una política antes de que yo me convirtiera en el directora de Boston P-8 con respecto al clima frío. Anteriormente, los estudiantes eran llevados a la puerta principal de la escuela en los días de clima frío y se les dejaba entrar al edificio. Desafortunadamente, no podemos permitir que esto continúe porque tenemos un carrito de desayuno para los estudiantes que ingresan al edificio desde el patio de recreo grande y dejar que más niños entren por la puerta principal en los días fríos crea congestión, los niños chocan entre sí y se les caiga su desayuno. Además, desde el comienzo de la pandemia de Covid-19, no podemos tener estudiantes reunidos en un área y es por eso que los estudiantes ingresan al edificio desde lugares designados. Esos lugares de llegada no cambian cuando cambia el clima. Continúe llevando a su hijo al mismo lugar de llegada y lo dejaremos entrar al edificio desde ese lugar a las 7:50 cuando la temperatura esté por debajo de los 20 grados o si está lloviendo o nevando. Me disculpo por la confusión. Gracias por su comprensión.
