The Aurora Public Schools Transportation Department is requesting your assistance to review the following safety guidelines with your child so that we may all experience another safe school year.  These guidelines also apply when students are be transported to and from a field trip.

While walking to the bus stop:
o Use crosswalks whenever possible
o Cross streets at the corner
o Obey all traffic signals and signs
o Look both ways before crossing the street. "Look left, look right, and look left again."
o Secure and carry personal items and school work in a backpack or book bag.

Note: All bus stops are marked in yellow paint, either on the curb or on a sign, with the APS logo and the school initials that the stop services. An example is: MMS for Mracheck Middle School.

At the bus stop:
o Do not arrive earlier than five (5) minutes prior to the bus departure time
o Please wait calmly at the stop location
o Please be respectful of homeowner property. Do not play or sit on fencing, stand on lawns, walk through flowerbeds, climb on trees, etc.
o Line up, on the sidewalk, facing towards the approaching bus
o Do not play in the street
o Stay back from the street and stand on the sidewalk.
o Wait for the bus to completely stop and the bus door to open PLEASE NOTE: A noise from the air brake setting will indicate that the bus has come to a full stop.
Entering the bus:
o Enter the bus without pushing one another
o Stay in line, do not bunch up or push one another forward.
o Use the handrail while stepping on the bus and going up the steps
o Find a seat quickly if one has not already been assigned to you
Exiting the bus:
o Wait for the driver to apply the air brakes before standing
o Use the seat by seat method for exiting
o Use the handrail while going down the steps and for stepping off the bus
o If you will be crossing the street, always cross in front of the bus and wait for the driver to motion that it is safe for you to cross.

Parents please, do not allow your child(ren) to bring any unsafe or prohibited items onto the bus such as skateboards, any type of glass items, laser pens, toy guns, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to review these safety guidelines with your child(ren). Together we will do our best to provide the safest environment for all of our school bus riders.

El departamento de transportación de las escuelas de Aurora esta solicitando su asistencia para seguir las reglas de seguridad del estudiante para así tener un ano escolar seguro para sus hijos.Mientras estén caminando a la parada del autobús:
o Cruce las calles por las esquinas
o Obedezca las reglas de trafico
o Mire a los dos lados antes de cruzar la calle
o Asegure que todas las cosas que lleven sus hijos estén en la mochila

Nota: Todas las paradas de los autobuses están marcadas con pintura amarilla en las veredas, con el nombre de la escuela. Ejample: Mracheck Middle School

En la parada del autobús:
o No llegue a la parada muy temprano cinco minutos antes es suficiente
o Por favor tengan paciencia para esperar el autobús
o Por favor respete las propiedades de otros. Los estudiantes no deben de jugar o treparse en las cercas o en los árboles, no pisen los jardines
o Los estudiantes deben de hacer línea para subir al bus
o Espere al autobús en las veredas no en la pistas
o Espere que el autobus pare completmente antes de subir

Subiendo al autobus:
o Suba al bus sin empujar a los demás
o Permanezca en la linea
o Usar las barandas para subir
o Busque su asiento inmediatamente, no pierda el tiempo hablando cuando esta subiendo, algunos estudiantes tienen asientos asignados

Bajando del autobus:
o Baje calmadamente, no apure a la persona que esta adelante.
o Use las barandas para bajar de una manera segura
o Si tiene que cruzar la pista siempre lo haga en frente del autobús, nunca por atrás, cuando lo haga por favor espera al lado derecho del bus y mire al chofer. El le dará una señal para que pueda cruzar la calle.

Padres de familia por favor no deje que su estudiante traigan al autobús cosas que son peligrosas para la segurida de su niño y los pasajeros,como skateboards, pistola de juguete, botellas de vidrio, laser pens, etc.

Muchísimas gracias por leer las reglas de seguridad con su estudiante, juntos podemos proveer un ambiente seguro para sus niños.
